Cob is an ancient earthen building material composed of sand, clay and straw. Cob walls are thick and strong and can last for generations. Cob offers excellent thermal mass, beautifully curving walls, and nearly unlimited creative freedom. In most places the materials for a cob building can be found right on the building site, making cob one of the most eco friendly building materials around. It is hand sculpted into thick, free form, load-bearing walls that last for hundreds of years. Cob is suitable in most climates and is simple and inexpensive.
